Sports Injuries

Osteopathy & Sports Injury

Sports injuries are commonly treated by osteopaths. You will be assessed and the diagnosis will be discussed and a treatment plan developed. The emphasis will be on returning you to sport as quickly as possible using techniques to reduce pain and discomfort and increase mobility.

Common injuries treated are:

  • Low back pain (with or without sciatica)
  • Muscle and ligament injuries
  • Knee pain (including mal-tracking and degenerative conditions)
  • Shoulder, elbow and wrist injuries
  • Foot and ankle complaints
  • Hip pain
  • Tennis and Golfers’ elbow
  • Tenosynovitis and tendonitis

Overuse Injuries

Osteopaths are skilled at assessing underlying causes of pain caused by repetitive strain; both work related and in common conditions such as Tennis and Golfers’ elbow.

A thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the body and how it functions biomechanically while participating in sports, allow osteopaths to make an accurate diagnosis and give treatment aiming to reduce strain on the painful area and help you to return to normal activities.
