Cranial Osteopathy
What is Cranial Osteopathy?
It is a refined and subtle type of osteopathic treatment that uses very gentle manipulative pressure to encourage the release of stresses throughout the body, including the head. It is extremely effective in treating a wide range of conditions in people of all ages – from birth to old age.
By analysing, treating and managing problems associated with growth, osteopaths make a major contribution to ensuring that young people become, and stay, fit and healthy.
Many babies are born with odd shaped heads as a result of stresses in a normal delivery. In the first few days, the head can usually be seen to gradually lose the extreme moulded shape, as the baby suckles, cries and yawns. However, this moulding process is often incomplete, especially if the birth has been difficult. As a result, the baby may have to live with some uncomfortable stresses within its head and body – it is possible that cranial osteopathy will relieve these stresses.
Cranial Osteopaths also consider that mechanical stresses on the body can be an important factor in cases of developmental delay such as delayed speech, educational difficulties and problems with coordination and physical development that have now particular medical diagnosis. Such children often make better progress once osteopathic treatment has been started.
Cranial Osteopathy treatment is very gentle, safe and effective in the treatment of babies and children.
